HOW TO SEE A DOCTOR OR PRACTICE NURSE

First, you must register with the Practice. To do this, please collect the necessary paperwork from the Practice, which consists of a registration form and a questionnaire and make an appointment with a Practice Nurse. You will then be asked to have a health check (with a Nurse) to take details of your present and past illnesses. We do this because it is often several months before we receive your medical records. You will need to bring your ompleted paperwork and a urine sample when you attend this appointment.

We will not register you if you fail to keep your appointment with the Practice Nurse for the medical health check. You are only formally accepted when the paperwork has been signed.

If you feel your problem requires urgent attention and you cannot wait for a routine appointment, please inform the receptionist. ALL such patients will be dealt with as quickly as possible but, you may not be able to see the doctor you would prefer. Please use urgent appointments considerately.

Where appropriate, it may be suggested that one of our practice nurses ring you to give advice.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENT, PLEASE LET US KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS THIS TIME SLOT CAN BE OFFERED TO ANOTHER PATIENT.

HOME VISITS

This is a special service that we offer to those who are unable to attend the surgery for an appointment because of illness. This service is run from both of our surgeries. Patients should call before 10.30 am for a routine visit.

After the doctors have left for visits, the receptionist will ask for more information to enable the Doctor to assess the urgency of the call.

Afternoon visits are ONLY for medical emergencies that have just occurred. In other circumstances, you may be offered a routine visit the next working day.
